The Misty Oak
On a small lake in a park near the house where I grew up, tiny acorns took root years ago on floating bits of debris and grew. Today, years later, little islands have grown up around them- kingdoms in the middle of a shallow and muddy lake. As I drove by late one night while visiting my family, the temperature hovered around 32 degrees- cold for this part of the world- and a mist rose from the warmer lake water.
